Abstract:  This handout gives basic information about pulmonary function tests, which may be done to help diagnose lung conditions or diseases such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or pulmonary fibrosis. The handout includes specific instructions to follow before the test and symptoms to watch for after the test that require a call to the doctor.
