Abstract

This handout gives information to help expectant parents decide if they want to have an advanced aneuploidy screening test. This test tells if the fetus has extra copies or missing copies of certain chromosomes, which can cause Down syndrome, Edward syndrome, Patau syndrom, or Turner syndrome. This handout explains the test and its limitations, and defines some medical terms.
