Abstract

This handout answers questions about a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube. A PEG tube is used to give a patient nutrition when they cannot get enough eating normally. It explains how the tube was placed, self-care at home, how to use and flush the tube, how to decompress the patient's stomach, and when to call for help.
